2017 Cricket Festival

The Suncoast British Car Club had a wonderful Sunday afternoon together, Nov. 26, at a cricket festival held at Parry Field on Lakewood Ranch, home of the Sarasota International Cricket Club. It was one of those beautiful Florida autumn afternoons — mostly sunny, a light breeze and pleasant temperatures. The club picnicked under oak trees and watched the two cricket teams from the original six clubs compete in the championship match of the 23rd Annual Six-a-side Tournament.
It’s become an annual event for the Suncoast club members, including a parade of our cars that circles the field twice at half-time. Club member Alex Dearborn handled the announcing for the parade, identifying the 16 marques and their owners for the assembled fans at this conclusion of the three-day festival.
It was a fine showing of Triumphs, Jaguars, MG’s, as well as an Austin-Healey, a Jensen-Healey, a Lotus, a Morgan, and a Marcos. An American-designed DeLorean manufactured in their Dunmurry plant in Northern Ireland was also in the parade. And at the end, Parry Field’s own Land Rover joined in.
