SBCC Presence at The Autumn in the Mountains Car Show
Ever adventurous, on September 23rd, Debbie & Jim Wilson and Carolyn & Bruce Skaggs headed north to Mills River, North Carolina to participate in the Autumn in the Mountains Car Show. This is the major annual event for the British Car Club of Western North Carolina, hosted now for over 20 consecutive years (2020 being the exception). We don’t believe anyone from the SBCC has attended this gathering in the past.
Held on Saturday, September 25, there were over 200 British cars and motorcycles on the field. Plaques were awarded to the top two in each class. The Best of Show was a 1966 MGB GT. Bruce reported that this was a great show and he and Jim are planning on attending next year, hopefully with more club members.
As can be seen from the photos, this is a beautiful part of North Carolina – forested mountains with fall colors arriving. Bruce also reported that the curvy mountain roads, with numerous switchbacks but little traffic, provided great opportunities to exercise the cornering capabilities of their cars. Opportunities that we just don’t have here in flat Florida.
Thanks to Bruce for the input and photos. Three photos also provided courtesy of the BCCWNC.
