45th Devereaux-Kaiser Car Meet, Sunday January 26, 2014

What a great show, over 1,500 show cars and maybe 5000 spectators!!  We had 32 British cars from our club, and the Tampa Bay Austin Healey Club added another 13 little British cars.   This was a great turn out and great exposure for the club, we handed out 8 or 9 new member forms and signed one new member up on the spot.  The show organization was fabulous.  A big thanks to the Sunshine Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America,  Event Chair Ed Smith and Lakewood Ranch.  It looks like the D-K show will now have a new home.    Thanks to Irene Gallagher for braving the traffic and bring our traditional birthday cup cakes.  Also a big thank you to Jack Hartley, who took the passenger seat out of his Healey to bring our pop up tent.   We really needed it, but not for shade like we hoped.   On a personal note, if you want your car to be totally ignored at the next car show just park  next to Bob Faria’s little yellow Chummy. What a great job Bob does, offering the kids to sit  in the Chummy and even honk the horn!!  Hope to seeing you all next Saturday at the Scottish Games and Celtic Fest.   Cheers for now,  Jim

45th Devereaux-Kaiser Auto Show Photos!

Sunday, January 26 was a bit cloudy and rainy, however that didn’t stop thousands of spectators from viewing the estimated 2000 classic cars that entered the field.  This years event was held off Rangeland Parkway in Lakewood Ranch on over 60 acres.  The SBCC had a great turnout with over 30 cars present!  Thanks to all the organizers, one of which is SBCC member, Bill Stelcher for making this a nice event.

Venice Rotary Art Fest and British Car Show

The weather turned out to be perfect, no wind with a high of 70 degrees.   We had a great turn out of 27 cars.   What a great combination of cars from Bob and Ruth Faria’s little yellow Chummy to Bernie and Anita Wood’s DeLorean.  Craig and Janet Dozois’s gorgeous yellow TR3 and Ron McLeod’s just restored rare Marcos GT were in attendance.   We also had Tom Near drive over from Lake Placid in his Mini.   We even had 3 green TR6s’ show up.  Thanks to all others who attended, you all made the day a huge success.    Jim Wilson
