Brookdale Car Show

On Saturday June 17, 2017, the SBCC and the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) joined together to show our cars at the Brookdale Palmer Ranch Assisted Living.  They have a wonderful facility including a circle drive in front, perfect for a car show.  This is the fifth outreach we have joined together with the AACA to bring something new and different to the residents of assisted living facilities.

The residents came out, some in wheel chairs and others on walkers, to inspect and comment on our cars.  One lovely well-dressed lady with pearls and matching earrings told President Jim Wilson she had heard if she was outside by 11 am she could enter a “raffle for one of the cars.” She picked new member John Magine’s beautiful black 1957 MGA.  Of course she was quite sharp spoofing us about the raffle, and John was able to leave with the car he came in.  Other residents were just glad to have a good reason to get outside and get some fresh air.  There were about 20 cars in attendance with eight from the SBCC.  Brookdale provided burgers and hot dogs, lemonade and ice cream for all.

If you would like to participate in one of these events in the future, please check our calendar tab to see when the next show is coming up.
