2016! SBCC Starts the year with a Big Bang!

20160101_130907On New Year’s Day 2016, we had a great turnout at the Turtle Beach Pavilion for our annual White Elephant gift exchange and Pot Luck lunch outing.  Here is a note from our club president, Jim Wilson:

Fellow SBCC Members,

WOW, what a turn out to our Turtle Beach Event.  Marylyn counted 65 attendees. I think we all had a great time, I know Debbie and I had a fabulous time just visiting with all of our great members. What a wonderful group we have.

I wanted to give a special thanks to the Event Planner Marylyn Aiello and her crew, a few of the ladies were Marilyn Lukens, Betsy McOmber and Irene Gallagher.  A special thanks to Russ Lukens for making a special trip with the coolers for drinks and thanks to Nick Pearce for running out to get more water.  Dave Hasler did such a great job of announcing we may ask him to do it again in 2017.

Did you notice all the fabulous British cars in the parking lot?  The ’73 Europa of Jerry and Cathy Jergensen, the original owners, Joel and Marcia Goricks’ gorgeous red XKE roadster, Ron McLeod and Ellen Wheatley and their Marcos.  Walt and Joanne Mainbergers’ Spridget, two red Morgans, owned by Bill Borden and Ron and Kathy Gricius.  Two TR3’s, the Dozois, and the Lukens.  And a Mayflower of the Harneys’ and Duane and Ellen Magnusons’ Austin 8.  Even two MBG’s, both standouts, the Bucchino’s ’69 MGB GT and Jay and Joyce Olsens’ red MGB roadster.  And Peter and Sheila Litvinchyks’ strange sounding Healey 3000, “powered by a Ford v8”.  And one very rare Delorean owned by Bernie and Anita Wood, I believe they are the orginal owners.  I think I saw Nick Pearces’ TR4, and several TR6’s. Dave and Janice Haslers’ Lotus powered Jensen Healey. And Bob and Carole Szymanskis’ white Jag Sedan.  Sorry if I missed anybody, but don’t we have a great examples of fine British motoring in our club?

The cars are great but some of our very special members do not own British Cars.  Collette Penn comes to mind, and she was the “winner” of the Treasure Chest this year.  As she said in her “acceptance speech” she picked it on purpose to remind her of what a great group of members we have.  I would add, “and what a Jewel we have in her”.

All members not in attendance, we missed you, and we wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year.
